Customer Reviews
I think this must be the first ever commercial DVD release of a programme which tells the amazing story of Northern Comedy and the people who made us laugh. It is a very welcome addition for those of us who treasure the films of Frank Randle, George Formby and other Northern comedy greats who were many. Thankfully the Mancunian Film Corp captured many of these stars performances on celluloid during the 1930's and beyond and this DVD does in fact feature a host of clips from Mancunian film productions. All these are held together with some archive interviews and more recently filmed interviews with those who have a good grounding knowledge of comic history and these are valuable content for this programme. The DVD box cover displays many of the stars who feature on the disc inside and I would go as far as to say `Funny Up North' is a valuable reference tool for any fan of vintage northern comedy or a lover of Mancunian Films. This programme is long overdue and oh so welcome. It has been carefully crafted by the production team with a good running time of 74 minutes, and also includes a bonus item with John Inman telling the story of Frank Randles career which is a vintage TV programme but the producers have sourced a superb quality copy for this DVD.
The DVD scores 10/10 from our audience here and we liked it so much we watched it twice. Well done A2B Media
The comics from the black ; white area are well worth viewing.
I grew up watching these ; throughly enjoyed reliving some of those moments with this DVD.
